When the pen is down and the proofs are approved, I’m still here on Texas dirt: black coffee in one hand, a rifle in the other when the hogs need thinning, pits slow-smoking brisket and ribs, and a steady gratitude for the rare privilege of living free in a nation worth fighting for.
